Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,999 miles

Our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, which my wife has been driving for about a week or less, well... it got a bit cold last week and she told me that there was NO HEAT in the JEEP. I checked it and found that the Temperature Valve Actuator was not operating like it should (I took it apart myself). Then, I checked on line with other Jeep problem and this was the main problem within my Jeep. Currently, my Jeep has 30K miles and this problem of NO HEAT should not be happening, but it's only blowing out very cold air! Got to find out that we were not the only ones with this problem relating to Jeeps with on heat. After my research online, I knew the problem, which I explained it to the service advisor at the Hendrick Chrysler Jeep dealership in Fayetteville, NC. I told them all that was needed was a HVAC Temperature Valve Actuator (Part #Mopar 68018109AA). But they insisted on a system check at a cost of $130+, just to check my suggestion. The part was another issue, the part man at the same dealership told me that the part was going to cost $162+ and taxes. I asked him why such a high cost for a part that I saw on line for $37+. His reply was its our cost to customers.

Bottom line, went out to the MOPAR web site, which Mopar is the parts, service and customer care organization within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the same part was selling for $87. The dealership part guy told me that Mopar sells the part for the same price - well, he is totally wrong. Well, I order that part from the Mopar Parts Webstore Parts Department is located in Orlando, Florida, and it’s a Mopar Parts Webstore which is a leader in the sale of genuine Mopar parts (same part and made by same company, but at a lower price). I just wonder how this city allows lets these dealership charge so much for a part, I truly understand that they must charge for the over-head, etc. Maybe this is because it’s a military town and they can charge whatever and get away with it. But we are talking about over 200% on this one part, how many other parts are like this?

As of this Saturday, I stopped going to this dealership for ANY service or any future buying of vehicles. I will drive out 30-40 minutes for any service needed and have told friends about my inconveniences with this dealership. There have to be a better service/part department dealership that works with Jeeps vehicles and offers a better way in doing things. This lesson has cost me $300 and still have no heat in my Jeep. However, I have ordered the Mopar Parts from the Webstore which is a leader and sellers the same genuine Mopar parts that Hendrick Chrysler Jeep dealership in Fayetteville part department was selling to me for $162+ (tax). The cost for this part is $16.99 - a saving of $145.01 plus Tax (shipped to me via 2-day delivery).

Lesson learned, don’t believe what you are told within any dealership, especially this one within. I think Chrysler Jeep should pick up the bill for this problem, especially on this 29,999K mileage Jeep. There are MANY others out there with the same problem, as I! I wish the US government get involved with these issues and make Chrysler Jeep call for a recall on this problem. There are so many problems and issues dealing with the HVAC Temperature Valve Actuator, Part #Mopar 68018109AA. Chrysler Jeep should do a recall on this issue!

Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,662 miles

Picked up this Wrangler used from a dealership during winter and very soon after I realized that the heating system was not working properly. I had little to no heat on the driver's side. Brought it in for server under a 30-day warranty and the culprit was the heater core. I've read that this is a fairly common issue with many Wranglers where the core gets blocked with aluminum core sand or debris and that a flush or a complete replacement is required.

Wrangler Sport 3.2L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 40,000 miles

no heat on driver side. same issue the 2012's were having

Just over all concern. I have had a Jeep Wrangler since 1997. I had 1995, 2000 and this was my first brand new Jeep and I had to already have a new oil pump replaced (under warranty) and now the Heater core. My vehicle is only 3 years old. I love my Jeep and can't imagine owning anything else but if the quality continues to drop. I may have to find a more reliable vehicle.
