This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased about 2 years ago with 80k miles
I got a check engine light on at about 95k miles and the code reads for a cylinder 6 misfire. I got the oil, plugs and coil packs done and it still throwing a code for the cylinder 6 misfire. It has a ticking noise and very low power. We switched the battery and alternator to see if that would help and it did not. I called Jeep because I've read about the Pentastar V6 motors that are faulty in 2013 Jeep Wranglers, so I took it into my local Jeep dealership to get a diagnostic on it so they can get the extended warranty to cover the bad head that I assume is happening with my Jeep. I've read up on the faulty issues with the bad head and seems to fit exactly what my Jeep is doing.
I left my Jeep at the Delership and awhile later I get a call that they cannot work on the Jeep because it's a Canadian made Jeep and warranties dont cover it here in the US and they wouldn't be able to get the parts etc etc...
So I go pick up my Jeep and still here a year later and still on a stand still. Called Jeep multiple times and got it registered to me because apparently it was still registered to someone in Canada. Kept calling and telling them about my problem and how my Jeep should be covered if it has that bad head. I called the local dealership again and they said they didn't have a record of me going in a year ago about this.. So i gave him my VIN and wanted him to check if something had changed in the system since ive been calling Jeep multiple times to get this resolved and i was told the jeep was still listed as an unknown owner in Canada...Finally a couple days ago I called Jeep again because its been running really rough and I've still haven't been helped. I spoke to a lady that called my dealership and gave them a code so they can look into my problem, they stated if it fell under the Pentastar Extended Warranty Issues it would be covered. But if not I would have to pay for the diagnostic test. Great! I agreed, I'm positive its the bad head causing all these issues. I get a call back from the dealer and he named a bunch of issues surrounding the cylinder 6 misfire problem and that it would cost me $6,500.00 to fix but its not covered because its "not a bad cylinder" ! I don't know what to do. I know it's a bad head and that's causing all the issues but they want me to pay for everything around the cylinder thats ruined and then it will slowly go down again and I won't be in the 10year or 150k warranty by then! Anyone have any suggestions?

CEL came on and gave a code for misfire on No. 1 Cylinder. The idle was a little rough and fuel economy went down a few MPG. Without writing a novel I can tell you the dealer had my Jeep for over 4 months all together. The STAR group from Chrysler Fiat was very slow to respond. Below is a chronological list of the items that were replaced trying to fix the misfire. The engine was taken apart and put back together so many times I did not trust it anymore (dual overhead cam setups are complicated). They told me the lifters were worn and when replaced is what fixed the problem. I find that hard to believe because when they replaced the head they should have seen the wear as they switched hardware from one head to the other. I think the miss went away on its own and will return with the new owner. 55,000 miles and I was afraid the engine would blow up every time I turned the key (with the complex overhead cams 1 bolt not tightened could be a disaster a few thousand miles down the road). With my career change I drive around 30k miles a year now and need a reliable daily driver. I traded my Jeep a couple of months after the repairs. I am a longtime Jeep guy, but I don’t see me ever buying another JK Jeep until they make some serious fundamental changes to their company in both quality control and service personnel training.
- Replaced coil on No 1 cylinder
- Replaced spark plug on No 1 cylinder
- Replaced fuel injector on No 1 cylinder
- Replaced wires on coil from No 1 cylinder to PCM
- Replaced right (pass side) head. Dealer said it failed leak down test. I doubt this was the case.
- Replaced crank position sensor
- Replaced PCM module
- Replaced all 4 lifters on No 1 cylinder

CEL came on and gave a code for high pressure mode failure on oil pump. Dealer replaced under warranty. After internet searches I found I am not the only person who has had to replace an oil pump at around ~55,000 miles on one of these Jeeps. Fiat took a simple gear on gear oil pump design that has been around since Methuselah and have created a multi vein dual stage oil pump with an electric solenoid to switch from low to high pressure. If I ever get an audience with Fiat I will tell them to keep it simple STUPID! Many owners have fought this problem.

CEL came on and gave a code for oil pressure circuit stuck. I replaced the oil pressure sensor which is under the intake. Horrible design, it was an 8 hour job. I cannot believe Fiat put the oil pressure sensor where they did.

THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. THIS VEHICLE IS USED FOR WORK SO NOT ONLY IS THERE THE EXPENSE OF REPAIRS, THERE IS ALSO MISSED WORK. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT ITS UNSAFE FOR A VEHICLE TO STALL OUT IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME TO SO CALL FIX THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH THE FIRST TIME WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE MORE I RESEARCH THE PROBLEM THE MORE I AM LEANING TOWARDS IT BEING A TIPM ISSUE BUT CHRYSLER DOESN'T WANT TO ADMIT TO.

A few months ago I had the same problem check engine light on, over heated, and the Electronic stability control light came on. Engine lost power and went into limp mode. Code p0349 showed up during the dealers test. Dealer replaced both cam phasers at my cost.
Now just this weekend the same problem occurred. When I opened the hood their wasn't any water in the radiator reservoir and the wiring harness to the cam phasers looked like somebody took it apart, I'm guessing to inspect it.
So far this engine is crap and nothing is covered under warranty. I only go to the dealer for all repairs and preventative maintenance. I have two vehicles that go to the same dealer. I'm losing faith and confidence in the Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler brand in resolving my issues.

I bought my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in August 2013. In July 2014 the check engine light came on. I take it home and in about two weeks it comes on again. Same story, now for the 6th time. I have 12,700 miles on it. I don't have an extra car and they want to keep it awhile each time to put miles on it to find the problem. I am SOOOO frustrated.
I love this Jeep otherwise. I know I'm well beyond lemon law, but I don't want another Jeep, I just want mine to work!!!! I just don't have time to keep taking it in every couple weeks. They changed the fuel pressure gauge twice now. I think they just don't know what to do at this point.

RHD (right hand drive) 2013 Jeep Wrangler 4d 4WD with only 10800 miles on it and engine light comes on. Take to local dealer, who by the way is not where I purchased vehicle-still waiting on their salesman to call me back about a vehicle purchase from AUG 2013, now Jan 2014. They put it on computer and say it is oil sensor. They order part, takes couple of days to get part, takes couple of days to do a 1 hour job.
This vehicle is used on my daily job. They replaced oil pressure sensor and intake gaskets. Only time will tell. Wish me luck.

I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler that has been diagnosed by the dealership with all the same symptoms as those detailed in the X56 Service Bulletin. The vehicle is displaying a check engine light that is a result of a P0306 code. Diagnosis was discovered that the No. 6 cylinder is 40% below specified compression and has leak-down test results indicating that the head is defective. This Bulletin leads to an extended warrantee for the admittedly defective left head of the vehicle. The warrantee details the make, model, year, and sales group of my vehicle; however, the dealership and your warrantee organization (FCA) has informed me that my vehicle is excluded from this warrantee due to the production date being approximately 6 months beyond the cut-off date. It is obvious to me that Chrysler believes that their heads should last longer than 118,000 miles as they have extended the warrantee for the heads resulting in this Service Bulletin.
I have requested that Chrysler extend this warrantee to my vehicle as an outlier of the cut-off date that is limiting the coverage of my vehicle for this known defect. Chrysler has denied my request.
