This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
My mechanic said that this seems to be a common problem with Jeeps. The heater core gets blocked with sand from engine castings. I am not understanding why Chrysler is not standing behind there product. They created this problem and they should be fixing this issue!!!

De-frost not heating enough to clear the ice formation - starts building up and causes the blades to skip and not clear the windshield. Not acceptable as the weather is far from the worst that upper mid-west can have. If we were in worsening conditions on the interstate and had to get home - deadly impairment! Summer, and have not taken in but the initial over the email diagnostics is the heater core. Then I crossed the June filed class action lawsuit on youtube and then articles ... BINGO! In laymen's terms - mfg debris is left in the motor which causes sludge build up in the radiator, cooling assembly, and heater core!
We'll be watching the lawsuit and forum reactions. Lawyers make the money on these class action deals and lucky if the rest of us see .42 cents. Bugs me that in my research and this many model years involved, would have expected an uproar. Should we "keep the jeep"?

Interior heating stopped working, only blows cool air, no heat out of any vent, heat, defrost, feet.
Will take it to shop Monday 3/6/2017 as this is Saturday after hours.
Will follow up once complete.
Update from Mar 6, 2017: Took it to the dealer today and they fixed the following, (I had an extended warranty thru MasterTech, which covered it.) Blows only cool air , all vents, No heat.

Vehicle quit heating on the driver's side. Soon after came the dreaded ticking/tapping from the drivers side of the engine. It’s in the shop now. I’ve contacted Jeep about it a few times and no one has a clue what I’m talking about. Yet there are blogs, class actions and warranty extensions for the exact problem.
Thank you Jeep!!! $42k for a piece of crap I’ll be putting a new engine in. Thank you Jeep! Had to take money out of my 401k to fix this! I feel like I’ve been robbed by Chrysler 2 times now for the same vehicle! Currently own 3. Will be selling and making sure everyone knows all about the lack of integrity this company has displayed! Discussed!
Update from Aug 9, 2020: Sludge build up. Had to replace several parts.
