Wrangler JL 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50 miles

I bought a 2020 Wrangler! It had a steering problem! Dealer changed out the steering gear box, fixed the problem.

Bought a 2021 Sahara for my daily driver and it has the same problem as the 2020 had, but the dealer says it's normal. Ha, not so! But the dealer refuses to fix it.

I was told by the dealership that the steering in the 2021 is not a problem! WRONG!

If the problem in the 2021 can't be fixed, Jeep should quit selling them, until the issue is resolved. I hope it is not one of the things that someone has to die in an accident, before Jeep owns up to the problem.

Wrangler Rubicon 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,100 miles

Exiting off highway, initially the dashboard flashed "service shifter" then went out. Shortly later it came on again, then lost power steering and all kinds of error messages flashed across dash ending up with check engine light on. No power steering and cruise control kept coming off and on.

Drove to dealer and initially was told they couldn't look at it for 7-10 days and I should just take it home - totally unacceptable! I informed them if I had an accident, the jeep burned up, etc., I was holding them responsible. Boss came out and finally got someone to look at the car. First tried to erase codes in computer and didn't work. Then they asked to keep the vehicle overnight. I asked for a loaner vehicle to get home and was told they didn't do that. Found my own rental to get home.

Told the next day that the electro power assist motor was bad and needed replacing but they weren't sure of the part delivery. Now 2 weeks later, still saying they don't have a delivery date for the part. Service manager told me "could be tomorrow or a month from now". Totally unacceptable! I need this vehicle for work to carry tools and instruments and there are no rental vehicles that will meet these requirements. Paid $50k cash for this PIS that I can't use or make a living!!!

Update from May 24, 2021: After over 3 weeks at the dealer and replacement of numerous parts (electric assist motor, etc., ) they finally believe they have located and fixed the problem as a wire underneath the front sway bar that was chaffed and caused a short. Time will tell!

Steering is very loose and over-reactive. Difficult to maintain your lane and almost impossible to steer through situations.
