  • 14,217 miles
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the contact was veering to the right when the steering wheel failed to respond as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a stabilizer however, the part was on backorder. The contact also stated that the steering wheel was shaking when the vehicle was first purchased new and that the vehicle was taken to the dealer at least five times prior to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the part would be sent sooner. The approximate failure mileage was 14,217.

Driving on interstate @ 65 mph, in very heavy traffic, experienced death wobble after going over a road seam bump, making it hard to control the vehicle. Slowed down to 50 and it stopped. I was terrified I was going to crash. It happened several more times during the same trip, whenever over 55 mph. Brought to dealer on 11/27/2023. Dealer says Stellantis is aware of the issue -- and has been sued for it in the past -- but it's been 4 months and Stellantis has not yet provided the replacement part. This is a brand new vehicle with about 4,000 miles on it, and the death wobble continues to occur whenever over 55 mph. Infuriating that Stellantis is aware of this issue yet is still installing malfunctioning parts.

When driving the vehicle at 60mph or faster, the steering wheel will begin to shake uncontrollably and continue to rattle for approximately 30 seconds until the vehicle is reduced speed to about 40mph or less. If I resume speed again, the shaking vibrations will continue to happen repeatedly. This puts my safety at risk when I attempt to drive on the freeway and approach the speed limit and causes me to reduce my speed to an unsafe speed far lower than the flow of traffic on the freeway. In addition, while the vehicle is vibrating/shaking, there is a lack of control of the vehicle and puts the driver in a panic state, because it feels like a flat/blown tire at such a high speed. The vehicle was taken into the dealership and they would not check the problem until I paid for an alignment maintenance fee of over $300. Therefore, I proceeded with the costs and they discovered some parts that need to be replaced by the factory. In spite of this, the dealership is holding me responsible for the process of elimination charges because the extended warranty XF1 and recall V41 are not attached to my VIN on this vehicle. However, these recalls are attached to vehicles made on or before November 2020 and my vehicle was built November 2022. I am aware of this issue, because my prior jeep wrangler vehicle was a 2019 and I experienced the same safety issues, and I brought it in and found out about the recall issued and it was repaired for my safety. However, the same safety issues are occurring in my 2023 jeep wrangler with only 25,000 miles on it, but no recalls are attached to my VIN to assist with the problem. Each time the vehicle malfunctions there is no warning lamps, no messages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. The incident first started to appear around 2/2/2024 & continued to happen more frequently with time. I scheduled the repair at the jeep dealership on 2/27/2024 and they currently still have my vehicle for this malfunction.

My 2023 Jeep Wrangler is experiencing the "Death Wobble" while driving down the highway or on uneven paved roads. During the "Death Wobble", the steering wheel starts shaking uncontrollably. I have to decelerated to regained control of the vehicle, at which point the shaking of the steering wheel stops. This has become a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as having defective tires from Bridgestone. The dealership is requesting the consumer buy new tires to remediated the death wobble and defective tires from Bridgestone.

Since new in December 2023 this vehicle has excessive wander while driving straight. This requires constant correction of the steering wheel just to go straight. Anything less than 100% attention can result in loss of control. The wander is related to excessive free play of the steering wheel which allows approximately 2-?? in each direction from center before the tires move. Three visits to two Jeep dealers resulted in -??functioning normally-?? diagnosis summaries. This is a safety issue in my opinion and Jeep at least needs a documented procedure for dealerships to measure the steering free play.

Violent shaking of the front end (wheels/tires and steering wheel) after hitting a bump in the road. The -??death wobble-?? occurred twice since I bought the vehicle new from a dealership about a year ago. The miles are low (2,000) as the Jeep is my extra vehicle, and no modifications have been done. The first time it happened I was going about 55 mph, and the second time about 65 mph. After the second incident I reviewed the internet and saw the death wobble class action suit that does not cover post-2020 Wranglers. Both incidents occurred during the day on dry and well maintained roads. I made a dealership appointment after the second occurrence, but can-??t get in until 1/9/2024. Loss of steering/control in traffic makes this a serious issue.

Our jeep is a leased vehicle with approx 5,200 miles. While riding on the highway going approx 65 mph the vehicle began to death wobble causing the driver to nearly lose control of the car. We were on a 4 lane interstate that could have resulted in a severe accident had the driver actually lost control. With so few miles on the vehicle there is no reason other than a manufacturing defect that would explain how this vehicle could already be experiencing death wobble, a known issue with jeeps

When vehicle is in drive gear, the steering system has a high pitch squeal. It gets louder when the steering wheel is turned. It makes the squealing noise when the tires are straight, when turned a little left or right, and all the way left and right. No warning lights are on or have ever turned on. The engine area also makes a loud tapping noise only when in gear. Loud enough to hear in the cab. I took it to the dealership, after they had it for over 8 hours, I was told all was normal, and even another new model makes the same noises. It must be the new electrical steering system sounds. To have an inspection done, I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment, after I had asked if it was normal and the service manager heard and confirmed, a service mechanic and the lead mechanic. All came out at a different time said something sounds like it might be off. The steering issue puts me at risk and other drivers, mainly truck drivers because this vehicle is my daily driver, and I put about 40-80 miles daily, at least 3/4 of the time is driving on a major highway. Our highway has had a ton of roadwork recently, which puts workers at risk.

As I was driving home at around 45 mph, I noticed a flashing light on the dashboard. The light was instructing me to switch to 'P' to start. Additionally, there was a light indicating a plug-in, and the 'D' was flashing. I wasn't sure what was happening, but I knew something was wrong. Gradually, the acceleration slowed down, and I started to feel uneasy. I quickly pulled over to the side of the road. Luckily, the car behind me wasn't speeding, and they were able to slow down and give me space. I put the car in park, turned it off, and then turned it on again. After doing so, I waited for a few seconds, hoping that the problem would be resolved. To my relief, the flashing lights disappeared, and the car started normally. I checked the dashboard again, and everything seemed to be in order. I resumed driving but couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Now, driving on the highway in Orlando worries me.

When hitting bumps on the highway, my Jeep gets what is referred to as the -??death wobble-??. The steering wheel (and wheels themselves) shake violently. This is such a well known occurance that it actually had the term -??death wobble-?? assigned to it. It is very hard to maintain control of the vehicle when this happens, creating a hazard for me and others in vehicles around me. Many times I have to come to a complete stop to stop the shaking. This is also a problem because I have to decrease speed quickly and pull off the road, creating a collision risk if anyone is following closely or cannot get over into another lane. This has occurred on multiple occasions.

On the evening of Sept. 13th I was driving in-town appx. 25mph, pulling into a Walmart shopping center, when my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe (Purchased in July of 2023) unexpectedly, with NO WARNING shut down! It reduced speed immediately and went into a "coasting mode" almost causing the car behind me to rear-end me. I immediately put on my hazard lights and was attempting to turn the corner to pull it into the parking lot when my steering column seized and the vehicle shut off completely. There were warning lights on the instrument panel, however, I was unable to focus on what they were as I was in sheer panic mode trying not hit or be hit by the sudden shut down of my vehicle. The only warning I can recall was to put the car in park, which I was unable to do because I was in the middle of the road, with no area to pull over too. I have owned my vehicle for just over two months and at the time of the incident this evening the vehicle has 2, 727 miles, 1/2 tank of gas, the battery voltage was normal and it had a small amount of charge. I have read numerous articles stating, including one from NHTSA, that the recall does not affect my jeep as it was manufactured in Oct. 2022. This is incorrect information and if anyone had bothered to do any investigations would find that there are hundreds of complaints on Jeep forums for Jeep Wrangler 4xe's manufactured AFTER the 8/17/22 having this problem. The bigger issue is that there is NO RECALL for the issue because it is past the "end" date for the recall. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS!! I drive on the highway EVERY DAY to go to work and I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been in the left hand, passing lane when this occurred. SOMEONE COULD BE KILLED! I am bringing my vehicle to Lee Auto Mall Dealership/Service Center in Westbrook, ME first thing tomorrow morning to have the issue looked into / corrected and to inquire if this particular recall had been completed for this vehicle.

I was driving down a side street when I received several warning lights for service shifter, airbags, seatbelts as well as the engine and all gauges cutting in and out. Following that my power steering went out and I could barely steer the vehicle. I had to call roadside assistance to tow the vehicle. The following fault codes wers pulled via obdii: U0001, U0151, U0155, U017E, U0418, U1442. Each code related to a malfunction with "CAN BUS C" or what the dealership referred to as a "star connector". After further research it is apparent that this part has continued to fail on many jeep wranglers dating back to 2018 and every report I have seen the person has stated the same issue of losing power steering. My jeep is a 2023 and now needs this part replaced. Why hasn't there been a recall on these vehicles for this faulty part" Why does chrysler continue to use these faulty parts on current vehicles when they know of their failure rate" This is a serious safety issue and should have been addressed years ago. Something must be done before someone gets hurt or killed.

After hitting a bump driving normal highway speeds 45+ mph the car begins to shake and vibrate vigorously. It feels like you will lose control of the vehicle and the only way to stop these vibrations is to slow down to 30-40mph. Stopping like this on the freeway seems extremly unsafe when traffic is flowing. The dealership referred to this issue as the "Jeep Death Wobble" and it is apparently a known issue. The vehicle has been into the shop already twice and they have failed to correct the issue. The first time they replaced the stabilizer and the second time they were unable to replicate the issue to the traffic in the area and being not able to drive at highway speeds. Stellantis/FCA have requested I continue to to Drive this vehicle even with these issues saying this is not a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle rooftop was made of fiber glass that dropped on the vehicle occupants while driving. The contact stated that the fiber glass could cause health issues if inhaled. The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the rooftop once, and the freedom panels twice; however, the failure persisted as the replacement parts were made of the same materials. The contact stated that the dealer informed him that the top was made from trust and bonded fiber glass. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 40-60 MPH, the steering wheel was shuddering back and forth, causing the vehicle to vibrate and to sway. The contact also stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle pulled to the left side. The contact turned the steering to the right in order to keep the vehicle in the lane. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the steering wheel was realigned twice; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 400.
