About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
When trying to accelerate my vehicle stalls and hesitates to increase speed. Before picking up speed, it jerks forward before gradually getting faster.

All of the sudden my traction control is showing to be off and my brake lights are illuminating even when my car is off. It doesn't seem to be driving any differently or braking any differently. However, my 2 year old was able to start the car and shift it into reverse without having to use the brake pedal when he got in the car while I was trying to figure out how to turn the lights off because it is killing my battery. Luckily no one was injured. I see that there is recall 17V773000 on 2012 models which seems to explain my issue exactly. Why is my 2010 not included?

Hello, I am currently having issues with my 2010 Kia Forte. The vehicle has been struggling to accelerate and soon eventually began to feel as if it were going to stall out all together every time I stepped on the gas. The check engine light came on and after diagnosing the code, it read P0336 (crankshaft position sensor a circuit range/performance). After some research I found that apparently there is a recall on these engines for what appears to be the same issue I am currently having. I looked up my vehicles VIN on this website and was notified that there is not currently an open recall even though I had just read that hundreds of thousands of vehicles of the same make and engine type (theta 2) were being recalled for crankshaft issues. Would like to have my car checked out via recall measures. The safety of my family is in question due to these known issues.

ESC light stays on, brake lights don't work, and cruise control works sporadically, all fuses are working, a quick google search reflects that the a faulty brake light switch might be the cause, which in fact it was.

Upon parking my vehicle, I could not shift out of drive or neutral, resulting in an inability to put my car in park and remove my keys. As I was unable to do this, I could not leave my vehicle and feared it could roll from its parking spot. At this time, the rear brake lights were not coming on when I would press the brakes. Also, my ESC control lights came on indicating this function was no longer working. When talking with the dealership, I learned there is an identical problem with other models that has resulted in a recall. However, my Forte was not included in this recall. After many attempts to restart my vehicle over fifteen minutes, I was finally able to put the car in park. However, my ESC light remained on after this.
