Forte LX 2.0L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,000 miles

Not able to get the gear shift from park to reverse numerous times. I would just keep trying to depress the button on the side of the gear shift knob and stepping on the brake to get it to work. I also tried shutting the car off and starting over again to get it in gear. Problem started at about 23,000 miles.

Took the car to the dealer after a couple of months and the dealer replaced the switch assembly at 25148 miles. The problem reoccurred twice this past month, and the third time on Saturday August 1st it happened again only this time with my foot still on the brake the car jerked backwards. For a short time, maybe 10 minutes I had little power when stepping on the gas pedal. After driving around for about 20 minutes everything corrected itself. Car is now at the dealer.
