Fuel tank expanding, potentially catching fire or exploding.

I've had my Kia K5 G-T Line for almost a year in February 2026. I've only had three oil changes on the car since I purchased it. The second time I went in for a routine oil change I was then notified on that day of service there was a recall on my car, they explained it was a check valve issue that later came back to be the fuel tank expanding and that they needed to replace the tank. The dealership kept my car for about a week to replace the tank.

Fast forward to January 17, 2026, I schedule another oil change service. Two days before my oil change while driving I started smelling gas inside my car, I didn't think much of it because I was behind a truck blowing exhaust from the pipes. I went in to have the service done, and ended up in the same situation. ANOTHER recall for the check valve that ended up being the fuel tank expanding AGAIN. Literally four months later, I'm having the same recall, and fuel tank replaced on the same car.

I called Kia consumer on Monday, January 19, 2026 and expressed my concerns on how I feel unsafe and no longer confident in driving that car with the potential to explode or catch fire at any time, any place. I requested to have Kia buy the car back from me or replace it with something completely different. I am no longer confident or secure with driving it. I feel as if I'm driving a ticking time bomb. How can I get my fuel tank replaced with a bad fuel tank? It quite literally makes no sense to me. It is a safety hazard for myself, my child and other drivers around me especially not knowing when it could possibly explode. There is no way of knowing how fast or slow the tank is expanding. If it is a problem now in the cold months, what would I expect in the summer when temperatures could reach 80-90 degrees?
