The lights malfunctioned, by flickering and finally going out. Putting me and others at risk by not having my lights working properly. There were NO warnings, prior to the incident. It has happened numerous times, scaring me to death. I am 86 years old and wasn't prepared to have my lights go out and not be able to see where I was going, or if others could see me. It started in 2017 and has happened often since then. I didn't know what was wrong and the Dealer said they didn't know anything about it BUT it continues to happen. Now the dealers want $159 to diagnose a faulty light problem that is DANGEROUS TO ME AND OTHERS.

While driving at night, the headlights flicker and then just turn off automatically. When I tried to manually turn them on, they will flicker again and then turn off automatically again. There is a recall on this exact thing happening to the same year, make and model as my car but I am told it doesn't apply to my VIN #. I am a single woman on a major highway (I 75 in Florida) with children, at night, when this happened and had to drive over 5 miles to the nearest exit where I felt safe to pull off the road. There was no warning that this was going to happen, and it continues to happen every time I use my headlights. This hinders me from night driving.

The PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG will be blocked from opening correctly in the event of a front end collision. The AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS lights flash on and off with small changes in ambient light causing distractions to oncoming vehicles and also inhibiting driver's visibility in low light situations. There is another sensor that is impacted by the defect, but I'm not sure of it's function. All of these issues are caused by well known dash cover defects on k900s like mine, as well as Hyundai Equus, and other names in the US and around the world. It may affect other Kia car's as well, such as the Forte. IN SUMMARY: DASH COVER ADHESIVE AND SECUREMENT LET LOOSE AND IS IMPEDING PROPER DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG, INTERFERING WITH PROPER FUNCTION OF HEADLIGHTS, AND COVERING DASH MOUNTED SENSORS. The defect was brought to a dealership for Goodwill consideration, as many cars have been repaired by Hyundai/Kia under goodwill warranty even before it progressed to a safety issue by covering the airbag and dash sensors. However, the District Parts and Service Manager was only concerned with my prior patronage, not with the quality nor safety of their cars. I escalated this to the 2nd level of Kia Customer service, and it was initially declined before the 2nd level representative even looked at the pictures or description of the safety defects. The 2nd level Rep reported that the DPSM would not return his calls. The 2nd level Rep had some contact with Kia engineers, but they determined that leather and/or hard plastic over the airbag opening would somehow not be a safety issue. The headlights were never discussed in Kia's "investigation." Eric, the 2nd level Rep initially encouraged me to NOT file with NHTSA because he claimed all goodwill requests were reported to NHTSA by Kia Corporation!

The led progressive lighting system on this vehicle shine only 10 to 12 feet in front of the vehicle. This makes driving dangerous at night. It has been to the dealer 3 times for this same issue. They adjust but it never gets any better. My wife is now afraid to drive this vehicle at night. The dealer never makes a repair order rather calls someone out to adjust the hlamps. Help!

The led headlights, in auto mode, flicker and then eventually go out while driving making this an incredible safety issue. This is intermittent and difficult to replicate during servicing. I've had it in twice with no repairs because they can't 'see the issue'. I now refuse to drive in the dark.

There is a flaw in night driving where the illuminated instrument cluster reflects on the front windshield glass in the driver's line of vision creating a distracting hazard. The only way to alleviate this condition is to completely dim the instrument cluster to a setting of one which makes the cluster too dim to read. So you have a choice: Stare at a reflection in your windshield or be unable to see your speedometer.

At separate times, both "adaptive" headlamps have failed. At separate times, both headlamps needed to be replaced. This could be a systemic problem with this make and model. When the failure occurs, the headlamps will be pointing in opposite, and at least half the time, wrong direction. You could turn left, the headlamp will point right and there will be minimal light coverage on the road. You also can not see "down" the road when this condition exists.
