Niro LX 1.6L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,268 miles

Purchased car 2020 with 34,991 miles Kia NIRO LX 2017. At 63,268 miles the bolt to the crank pulley snapped off and broke off causing serious damage to short block that needs replaced, keyway snapped off and much more. Kia dealership wants $6,300 for labor and parts! While researching I discovered that 'burrs produced during manufacturing process have been found in the hydraulic actuator housings of some Niros produced between 1, November 2016 and 11, September 2017. These burrs can damage the oil seal and allow oil to seep out or in extreme circumstances causes a short circuit and a potential fire".

And how about that it also causes the bolt to crank pulley to come off!!! This needs to be fixed by manufacturer and I really feel a recall is needed. I thought I was writing to Kia here but this information is important anyway.
