Optima LX 2.4L

I purchased my Kia Optima Brand New and it has never given me trouble after the break switch I replaced. Now the mechanic tells me I have a bad rod bearing in the engine block. Is there an extended coverage on this engine? I cannot afford to pay for a new engine.
