The contact owns a 2012 Kia Optima. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact safely pulled over as the body of the vehicle veered from left to right due to the loss of power steering ability. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to selma Kia (2775 auto mall dr., selma, ca 93662, (559) 891-2300) where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 155,000.
