Optima SXL 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,717 miles

I just purchased this car in January, didn't have any issues until a few week's later. I tried to start the vehicle it went thru the process of doing it's check's and not starting. I read the manual about not starting saying maybe my steering wheel was locked. It wasn't. Had it towed to the dealership the tow truck driver started it up with no problem's. the dealership tech checked it out saying nothing was wrong with my car. So a few week's later it didn't start again. This time my wife tried it and then put the car in neutral it started. I've had this issue a few more times. So I'm really worried what should I do especially if the dealership see's there isn't an issue.

My 2014 Optima SXL Turbo has an intermittent STARTING problem. Occasionally and Without warning, while trying to start the car, the car just goes in and out of accessory mode. The electric seat still moves into its position, and it goes through all the checks but it will not start. The radio is on and the car thinks its started. I have taken the car to the dealership numerous times and they have not been able to find a code for this issue on the diagnostic check. Additionally the dealership service department can not get an answer from KIA Motors regarding how to fix this issue. It actually did not start at the dealership and had been verified by the service technicians, while on the diagnostic computer. KIA corporate has been resistant to recognize that this is an issue. At least three other owners from the KIA dealer have the same issue. At this time I would not recommend that anyone purchase any KIA OPTIMA.
