This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Kia dealer.
The steering is notchy, driving straight ahead it feels as if the steering is locked, then with great effort I can turn wheel to left and the car almost changes lane! the same thing happens when I correct and turn wheel to right again almost changing lanes. I fear getting pulled over for DUI check or worse yet causing accident!

This car is a death trap. At speeds of 50mph or higher it is very hard to steer or keep in a straight line. It over corrects and feels like you are losing control. The car has been to the dealership three times and they say "that is just how it drives", there is no fix for it. They will not admit that there is a known issue.

In the past few months, we have taken several longer trips with our Kia Optima. At speeds above 50 mph, a steering issue is very noticeable. The steering wheel has to be constantly corrected, left then right. It feels as if there is a dead zone on the steering wheel at 12 o'clock, something that can be described as "notchy." We took to the dealer, and they could not recreate the problem below 55 mph. However, it is very noticeable and annoying, possibly dangerous.
