I was scheduled to take my car back to the garage to check on reduced power going up inclines. That morning, as I shifted the car into reverse, it clunked hard into gear and jumped backwards. My local car repair referred me to a transmission shop. They first got an error code from the car that indicated a bad speed sensor. They replaced that and found that it had metal shavings on it, indicating a problem with the transmission.
They removed the transmission and rebuilt it, but the hard shift was never able to be resolved, even after taking it to Kia. I took it to another transmission shop who suggested replacing the transmission with a new one at a cost of $4500. I declined that and am dealing with a clunky transmission.
