I have been hearing a high-pitched, intermittent squeal for several months that has recently increased in frequency. It seems to occur while driving when the drivetrain switches from the EV motor to the IC engine. I brought it into my local Kia dealer and was informed it is caused by the "starter generator bearing starting to fail." They recommend full replacement of the hybrid starter generator (HSG), serpentine belt and both tensioners. Cost for repairs (parts and labor) will be $2,651 plus tax. Wondering if this is a common problem. I have not been able to find any mention in the forums, or any documented recall related to this issue.
