Kia is refusing to perform recall on my vehicle and says its over the mileage 150000 in the recall it states that after inspection and repairs the warranty kicks in after knock sensor update... which has never been done and unavailable yet. My car has been sitting at dealer for 2 weeks and depending on who I talk to at kia corporate will say no mileage limit on safety related recall to rude asshole supervisors that say it says right in the recall 15 years 150000 to which I say do you know how to read and comprehend the English language

Driving vehicle home and I heard a light tapping noise on left driver side. Continue to drive and the vehicle slows down and almost came to a stop. Pulled car into Pep boys who plug in the toll that gives you a diagnosis. Results came back as thermostat and Crankshaft sensor. I dropped vehicle off a dealership for repair. It took a few days for them to find someone who knew how to work on a hybrid. I was told the vehicle needed a new engine and that a screw had broken through a plastic cap and Oil leaked into the engine.
The mechanic asked if someone had worked on the car before and no one had. He said someone must have and screwed a bolt too tight breaking through the plastic cap. Now unless someone broke into my car to work on my car I am not sure how that happened. Seems there is an issue with the plastic cap possibly melting.but still a year on the loan and I can’t drive the car or afford the maintenance which is $5,000 and that is with a used engine.
Started my car to warm it up before I went to work as it was 28°F out heard a ticking turned off car went back in house to finish getting ready. Came back out checked oil dip stick said between low and full got in car stopped at gas station picked up a quart of same oil that I use to change oil. Put quart of oil I. Drive to work no change in sound. Check oil before leaving work for night still same Mark added another quart. Started car pulled forward no oil marks under car started driving home. On my 30 mile trip home engine came on ticking turned to tapping, and on my last 3 miles home tapping turned to knocking.
Took it easy going home as hybrid kicks on under 25mph pulled car in driveway. Changed oil, filter, Sat morning started car same sound. Called mechanic explained issue he said do NOT drive it I'll be over Monday to take a look at it. Turns out engine is blown broke piston need new engine. I bought the car used with 30,000 miles did all my own oil changes between 3,000-5,000 miles used synthetic oil and high mileage filters. Same treatment I have my Silverado which now has 255,000 miles on it and was handed down to my son this past smer and the truck is still going strong. Have to replace engine since I still have 2 yrs left on loan.
Calling dealer tomorrow but based on comments of same problem with the regular Optima doubt they'll cover it and this is an engine that only runs 1/2 the time as a full gas engine. So just the engine is $3231 used and that's without labor to install it. Thank you Kia because now this single working mom of two boys is going to be struggling for most of the year.
