The stock timing chain is crap would have replaced it if I had known it is only a 20$ part and about an hour of labor to instal.the engine is of a good design but it is compact for fuel efficiency and when the timing chain goes or skips just once the valves and pistons touch and there goes your head. strongly suggest to any one who has one of these get your timing chain done at every 80000 kms or 50000 miles to avoid the expensive repair.another thing is try and avoid dropping a gear and punching it this puts excessive strain on your timing chain
