Engine mounts, timing belt, water pump and tensioners replaced. engine had a whirring noise at 2600-2800rpm. Told kia the belts were too tight. they said not the case, I arguesd again after driving for 2000 miles with the noise then a vibration developed at the same rpm. They re-adjusted the belts again and whirring noise disappeared but the vibration stayed . Three months and $2000 and they cant find the problem. They have given up trying and as the car just went out of warranty they will not see the problem to a resolution unless I pay. IT`S NEVER THEIR FAULT IS IT. I AM DESPERATE FOR A FIX to this nightmare.

We have a 2008 Kia Rio that has been nothing but a problem. The problem started randomly and progressed really fast. It started as a slight vibration then progressed to a load violent vibration. Which in turn resulted in a major decrease in gas mileage and power. It also seems like it has affected the transmission as well. It violently shifts gears between 3rd and fourth gear and occasionally slips into neutral while on the freeway and has no horse power causing it to crawl up hills.... Barely.
I have checked the codes and it comes up as ramdon cylinder misfires and something about low power to a cam sensor. Apparently that is the result of a it being out time and i can't seem to figure out this issue. At first I thought it was a fuel line issue possibly being a plugged fuel filter or fuel pump, but replaced both those, as well as performed a complete tune up with new plugs and wires, fuel, oil, and air filters, hoping it was a faulty set of wires and plugs, but that was not the case. Apparently this is a common issue and people should know about this.
