The engine has a constant knocking. I've seen online that this type knocking in the Kia motors can lead to the engine exploding or catching on fire. I never expected the engine to not even last 10 years (sign of a true lemon). The Kia dealership wants $6,111 to replace the engine and $200 for the the diagnostics. The car is valued at between $6,000-10,000. Whenever you talk to them, they are always talking about being in the Kia family. Well, treat me like family.

Purchase used from dealer as certified used with extended warranty to 2022 177000km
First 3 or 4 oil changes were done at dealer but they didn't want to supply synthetic oil, so being a former mechanic, I started doing at home with Kia filters and Castrol edge which I have put in all my vehicles and have other cars at 474000km and 386000km respectively still running strong with no issues.
I kept invoices for filters from Kia but not for the oil which I've always purchased at Canadian Tire when it goes on sale. Kia extended warranty basically told me on the phone that home oil changes were not permitted but to take to dealer with any invoices I did have. Car has been at Kia Gareau dealer in Mont Laurier since 21 April 2021 and still have no confirmation if they will honor the warranty.
