Sedona LX V6

  • Automatic transmission

Problem occuring in March if the weather is warm enough. Temperature must be at 70 degrees. If raining, problem does not show up. Had drums cleaned out several times. Getting underneath vehicle and spraying with water through garden hose help. I guess it cools the drums down. Can happen if overnight temps are above 70. Will make noise on first stop, especially in the summer time. Once October cools off before Halloween, problem gone all winter if winter stays cool. Does not happen if you apply brakes sharply like if someone who can't see a minivan 20 feet away and pulls out in front of you. Does not appear to cause any brake failure.

I have been driving since 1968 and this is the only vehicle I have ever drove that has this problem.

This problem does not occur braking while backing up.

I bought an 2005 Kia Sedona in may of 2006 with 30 miles. Three months after we started having a creaking noise from the back brakes. This only happens when its hot outside and its a hit and miss problem but the longer you let it go the more frequent and louder it gets. The local dealer mechanics have done a great job for me but they are only doing what they are told by kia themselves. Even though the service techs know and tell me that it will not fix the problem. Now its been two yrs and they have drug this problem out for so long that the lemon law is past. Now they are telling me that its just a noise that some vehicle will make and its only during the summer months so they are not doing anything else. Nice to know that these companies really back up their product. I will never buy another kia and i will let everyone know how much of a scam kia is.

Every time i hit the breaks, when its 25 MPH to 0, there is an annoying humming noise from the rear drums, and it is able to be heard outside. One time, i was in stop and go traffic and people were sitting in the grass right off the road and when they heard it they started laughing at me, its embarrassing!
