The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16V389000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 16V389000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. While driving approximately 55 mph, the hood of the vehicle suddenly opened and smashed the windshield. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the windshield and the hood needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
