The contact owns a 2007 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she was informed that smoke was emanating from the vehicle, after which she observed flames emanating from the engine compartment on the driver's side. Bystanders were able to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher. Local emergency services arrived. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number:?23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired. A fire report was filed. A police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The contact also stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood suddenly unlatched, opened, and smashed into the front windshield. The contact was able to safely pull to the shoulder of the roadway, and attempted to close the hood, but the latch failed to remain secure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the secondary hood latch assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number:?16V389000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2007 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ESC and ABS warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that on several occasions, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the brake light independently activated while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed stop light switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched and discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V088000 (Electrical System, Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the recall was not associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
