Intermittent no start. Sit in the car, turn the key, lights come on, engine does NOT crank. 5-10 times later, it starts. Runs great for a week, then again, no start. Gave to dealer when under 60k miles, couldn't replicate problem, found no problem codes. Last 6 months, happens weekly. turn key 10x, finally starts. No rhyme or reason. Internet has hundreds of such posts from Kia and Hyundai owners from 2006 on. Kia claims no problem. Issue seems to be anti theft relay in the iPM module. Cost 500 to fix, but part is defective and recurs shortly. Real fix seems to be to run jumper wire to bypass the anti theft module. Again, KIA refuses to acknowledge. Seems it doesn't start, it doesn't result in death or injuries, only frustration and customer dis-satisfaction . Never buy a KIA. The 6 year warranty is useless for this kind of problem.
I will have a mechanic do this for me for a few hundred bucks.
