Does anyone know how to get the rear sliding doors open when they are frozen shut or how to prevent them from freezin shut? As soon as the temperature drops, you can't get them open without banging on them from the inside. Hate the thought of not being able to get out of the car in an emergency. Willing to try anything since the previous complaint showed Kia was unwilling to do anything about the problem.

My rear van doors keep freezing shut. I have to get the kids in the van in the morning by crawling in through the front door or fighting with the door until it opens. Then it beeps the entire trip to work that my door is open. I have had it to the dealership twice and they spray it with silicone and that does not help at all! It's a pain in my a**.

Sliding doors and windows freeze on this van when it gets cold. It started in the winter of 2012 right after we purchased it. I took it to the dealer and of course it wasn't frozen by the time I got it there. I thought it was a fluke. It happened again at night only this time I couldn't get it opened and the warning beeper kept going off. I worried about it flying open while driving so I pulled over till I could open the door and re-close it. I was alone at the time. Took it back to the dealer the next day and they sprayed it with something and they made a note for any future problems.

We didn't realize this might have been an option to get them to take this van back at that time as it was unsafe when the beeper was going off because those doors could have come open while we were driving.

This winter we have not been able to use the sliding glass doors since it got cold and our windows are frozen every morning. There is no stripping between the windows and the doors so the windows freeze to it.

I was told I needed to keep the snow and rain off my van (put it in a garage, don't have one). It is hard to do that when you live in NY. I had my van at the service dept. to have them work on this problem on 1/3/14. It was in their garage for 3 hours. No rain, no snow. I drove it 20 miles, got out and tried to open the doors and they were frozen shut again and again the warning beeper went off all the way home with me worrying if the door would slide open while I was driving.

I was informed by 2 KIA Reps that they will do nothing for me as it isn't a KIA problem as it doesn't happen in the summer and my van meets KIA's specs. I am sure the dealer knew about this problem as it had 17,000 miles on it when we bought it and they needed to unload it before the winter of 2012 and we just happened to be the suckers who came along.

We aren't asking for a new car . All we want is to be able to use our sliding doors and windows all year round. A type of rubber stripping or something around the sliding doors so they won't freeze, and stripping between the windows and doors should do the trick. Thanks for letting me vent.
