This is my 2nd Seltos. I purchased the first one in July. I had it approximately 1 week and could smell something when I got out of it that whole week. I took it back to dealership I purchased from and contacted Kia right away. All they kept telling me was that it would be covered under my warranty. After 2 days with no car the dealership called and said they found the issue. The transfer case was no good. I of course was pissed and threw a fit. I have been waiting for this car to be manufactured, I was told several times that this was an issue that they had not encountered before this. I ultimately won my argument due to the fact that it was going to take 6 months or longer for the transfer case to be available for the dealership to replace. I was able to get another car in the same color.
So here I am my 2nd KIA Seltos that I again wanted, and before it was even time for the first oil change this car starts sounding weird. It started making loud ticking sounds which I of course have recorded. My husband checked the oil at 4789 miles and the car is 2 quarts low on oil. At that time I call the dealership to have this checked. My husband of course being a car guy will not drive it to the dealership that is an hour away from our with the oil that low. He puts oil in it to ensure that the engine is not going to blow up on way to dealership and takes it in to have the issue looked at.
When he gets there, the dealership tells him that he should have just brought it in and if it blew up it would not have been a big deal. I don't understand that, but whatever. They make a note and start this oil consumption test which apparently has to be done 3 times. The car has to be driven 1000 miles between each test. This is the dumbest thing I have heard when it is apparent not only to us but the worker at the dealership that this car is knocking louder every time we go in. And the first time apparently does not count. He has taken this in twice since that time, the first time the car was .5 quarts low, the second time which was today (again because they do not acknowledge the first time it was taken in) - and this time it is reported that it is 1.3 quarts low.
Now the dealership wants us to drive another 1000 miles and bring it back in and they will have us in a rental vehicle while they attempt to do further diagnostics on it. We have been told several times that they do not know what they are going to do because parts are still months out and they do not know when I will get my car back after the next oil consumption test. As of tonight I believe I am going to have to try to locate a lawyer that will handle this situation because I am making payments on a vehicle that is apparently a big piece of SH*T!
