I was on a trip and stopped at a Rest Area on my way home. When pulling out of a parking spot, a car drove behind me which set off the reverse warning (beeping). The beeping continued AFTER the car was put into drive and I began to accelerate forward. I pulled over in the parking lot and tried everything possible to shut it off, including turning off the vehicle completely (multiple times), exiting the car, and locking the doors. You could still hear it beeping from the outside even though the car was powered down.

I restarted the car - still beeping. Threw it back into reverse - still beeping. Eventually, I decided that I'd just have to turn the radio up and continue on my 3-hour journey slowly as I slowly headed into insanity. The only solution seemed to be to allow the beeping to continue until my battery would eventually die.

As a last ditch effort, I attempted to trip the sensor by pretending to merge into a lane with another car in it. That did the trick. The merge sensor took over and turned off the reverse sensor.
