rear axle differential failed after 31000 original miles
Bought this 2008 Kia Sorento as new car in early February 2009 from World Kia in Las Vegas for almost $19 k cash sale by check..This dealer now closed. Purchase contract and finance disclosure say it is new. Came with factory window sticker, 10 year 100k powertrain warranty window sticker, etc. as well as written that it was new car. Always followed Kia maintainance schedule at Kia dealers including 30k service. A few weeks ago noticed slow acceleration and hum from rear at speed around 60 mph. Took to local Kia dealer and diagnosed as rear axle needs to be replaced and rear driver side original Michelin tire. Authorized repair for $2200 and contact Kia Motors USA as 100k 10 year warranty covers and only 31K on odometer. Opened a case and was surprised they now claim we are not the original owners so powertrain warranty expire after 5 years!
In other words apparently they claim their authorized dealer sold us a used car as new and they are somehow not responsible? KIA CSR I spoke with last week said she would review with her manager and call us as soon as she goes over with her manager. So far no response. Paid the $2200 plus to the dealer Friday to get our Sorento back.
Will make more complaints if necessary but bottom line is 2008 rear axles were defective, not our fault and apparently Kia will go to any lengths to deny warranty coverage they boast about to their customers.
