The air bag light has been on and the Kia place in Bangor said I would have to replace it myself for $ 450 for a need seat system.

Own 2011 Kia Sorento, Airbag warning light came on unexpectedly even though the airbags have never been deployed and there has been no damage to the vehicle. Light won't turn off. Dealer did diagnostics and said passenger OCS mat needs to be replaced at $2017.00 cost. Diagnostic code B1764. Have read a lot of complaints about same issue and believe Kia needs to do recall for this safety item. There are numerous complaints online about this same issue describing a passenger occupant sensor mat. NOT able to fix now, do not feel safe driving with light on/front passenger airbag possibly not working. may drive for me but will not be able to take family out with passenger in front seat. not covered by extended warranty. 5 yrs or 60,000 miles.

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento. All has been good so far, besides when I bought the car and noticed that if you spill water on the fabric, it stains it! Why would Kia build a nice car and go cheap on the inside!
Also just noticed my air bag light came on today. The show wants $108 just to diagnose.
Kia needs to do a recall!!!! I don't have lots of money sitting around to pay for the repair. Now I do not feel safe driving it.
Let's all get a class action lawsuit against Kia and demand they fix this now!! Who is with me?

This should be a recall issue. I think it's dangerous.

Own 2011 Kia Sorento, airbag light came on and won't turn off. Dealer did diagnostics and said passenger OCS mat needs to be replaced at $1800 cost. Have read a lot of complaints about same issue and believe Kia needs to do recall for this safety item. Also steering wheel stereo controls no longer work!

At first the tech told me it may be covered under the warranty he would check and get back with me. The tech never did he wasn't there the next time I went in for service. The lady told me the problem is the clock spring is defective. I just bought this from them used and know they want me to fork out 1200 to 2400 dollars.

Is there a Government Agency to complain to about this so that Kia will make it an official recall to be fixed with no cost to car owner? So far every complaint on this issue seems to be a costly fix. This will make people think twice before buying a Kia if they can't stand behind their cars and make things right.

The air bag light came on recently and will not go out.

Airbag warning light came on unexpectedly even though the airbags have never been deployed and there has been no damage to the vehicle. There are numerous complaints online about this same issue describing a broken clock spring or passenger occupant sensor mat. Kia has had this same issue with other models as well and there needs to be a recall asap. I will not be able to fix the problem at this time since I have mounting medical bills. Kia needs to add this vehicle to the recall list.

I CALLED DEALER SERVICE DEPT. ASKED FOR SERVICE OF VEHICLE APPOINTMENT AND ASKED ABOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT BLINK THEN STAYS ON. WAS TOLD AIR BAG WILL NOT SUDDENLY OPEN BUT RATHER JUST NOT WORK. ADVISED I WOULD CALL LATER FOR APPOINTMENT DUE TO TIME TO DO THIS WORK. WAS TOLD PROBABLY NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY.
I CALLED 3 DAYS LATER FOR APPOINTMENT HAD TO LEAVE MESSAGE WITH RECEPTIONIST AS THEY WERE ALL BUSY. CALLED MANY TIMES THAT DAY TO NO AVAIL. WEEK LATER I CALLED AND ADVISED RECEPTIONIST I HATE TO DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT REFUSES TO TAKE MY CALL AND WILL NOT RETURN CALLS. SHE PROMISED SHE WOULD HAVE THEM CALL BACK. NOW WEEK LATER AND NO WORD FROM THEM.
FOR 5 YEARS I HAVE GOT CALLS TRYING TO GET ME TO TRADE. I HOPE THE SALES PERSON WILL CALL NOW.

air bag light came on and the dealer says it's the clock spring 500.00 to fix it! It should be a recall...Just google the complaints!!! We need a class action lawsuit before someone gets killed. The dealership told me I can still get the car to pass inspection but I may not have an airbag if I get in a crash!!

Airbag light came on at 70000 miles, reset and appeared fine. At 72000 miles back on and stays on. Diagnosed at $120 and informed passenger seat ocs sensor mat is faulty and would need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $2000! A safety feature, which prompted us to purchase the car at an exuberant cost, which we can not currently afford.
Contacted Kia consumer and they followed up with district manager to see if would do anything, which I was informed they would not. My thought on KIA quality being improved was foolish on my part and 1600 just for a safety sensor mat with no offer to make it even somewhat affordable.
A sensor which has nothing to do with mileage faulty after 3 years...while I have other vehicle 20 years old with no faulty sensor.
Not our only problem either after warranty expired. Initially thought KIA had come along well on quality but now do not feel so at all...

I scanned my car and researched that this exact problem has occurred on other Kia-Hyundai vehicles and Kia recalled them!!! I've replaced the clock spring as well because it was affordable, and now this problem! This part is roughly 1200 dollars. Goodness, Kia has some good qualities but they don't see a mistake until it's too late.
