Sorento LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,500 miles

I own a 2015 Kia Sorento. Color is Pearl White! I've own this vehicle since 2016. In Oct. of 2021, while driving down expressway strips of paint where peeling off the driver side, where the door meets the roof. After further looking at this problem, i realized the paint was also peeling off the hood and roof.

Kia dealership informed me after telling me in Nov. I had to make an appointment which took unto Dec. 30th, that there was nothing they could do since the 3 year warrenty had expired. What a sad thing that a automobile manufacture can't accept this kind of problem as a manufacting defect. This has been going on for several years before 2015 and til as recent as 2021. I can't beleive the Automotive Association has not step in to get the resolved.

I also own a 2013 Kia Optima, and it has been a great car. Kia has always taken good car of me, but since seeing Kia does not stand behind its products is very disconcerning.

Pls contact me if possible to resolve this issue. Rick Case Kia in Lawrencevill, Ga. suggested that I contact Kia Corp. of America to seek help!

Sorento SXL

  • Automatic transmission

The paint is literally peeling and flaking off. I discovered it washing my car. I have checked with several body shops to find it is common issue and will require the entire car to be painted and cost thousands of dollars. My car is garage kept, paid off and extremely low mileage. I cannot sell it or afford to fix it, living on disability.

Sorento LX 6 Cy

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

The paint started peeling with no apparent reason. It will flake off with your fingernail. Started on the top near the windshield and is now on the hood. it seems like the paint isn't bonding to the base coat.

I'm afraid that if I get it touched up or re-painted that it will not correct the bonding problem. Getting worse.

Sorento LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

It started with a small spot on the front edge of the hood, there suddenly was a spot the size of a quarter where the paint lifted off. Figured it might have been a nick and water got under it. That spot gradually grew and is now a good 3" long. The next came on the driver's side on the frame of the windshield. Pieces of paint just peeled off. There's about a good 8" long patch that has no paint and it's still flaking. The piece of paint that came off was so thin and brittle, I couldn't believe it. Nail polish is put on thicker than that paint. It just seems like the undercoat wasn't good and didn't fuse with the paint when it was applied. I don't know if I'm going to have to have the entire SUV repainted or if I can have it patched. But if I just patch it, will it start peeling in other places? I had a 2004 Sorento for over 10 years and never had this problem.
