Engine is severely slugged and there was no warning ever. Found out after an oil changed at 67K at jiffy lube when I took it to the ourisman Kia dealer in chantilly, va. There is no warning that any of this situation was starting to happen even after a previous oil change at Kia dealer at 58K miles. The dealership denied my claim with the 100K mile warranty because I don't have proof that I did all 9 oil changes. They proceeded to tell me that I need a new engine but that they are on backorder nationwide and who knows what date tbd that will become available. The repair shop I took it to piedomont in haymarket, va says they think it is something like a year before it might be available. So in the mean time no loaner was ever offered to me and no I have a unusable vehicle that I have submitted a claim for with geico. I do not have funding for a new engine and the fact that the Kia motor company has no engine to even supply to me is completely unacceptable practice for a business. Also 1 year ago my battery just died according to the Kia dealer due to a parasitic drain. That seems suspicious to me since the vehicle was only a year old and had to be replaced with one I bought at walmart. Also, the fuse for the driver seat continuously blows.

Had recall for PI1802 knock sensor update. 2 weeks later went to get up to speed on highway and went into limp mode. Told engine needed to be replaced. Wait a month and pick up car. Turns out only wiring harness was replaced. Another few weeks and I go to get on another highway in fast lane and it happens again - limp mode. Told engine not replaced, now it will be and without the car again and engine back ordered. Do not qualify for lemon law - 2 years and under 11,000 miles. How does shutting down the engine to save the engine be of higher concern than the passengers in the vehicle"??" not happy and not much I can do since lease. If and when I get it back its being traded - I refuse to sit in it again.

Also, when driving uphill same engine heating problem occurs. Received a notice for an update took the vehicle in for service because we were going to California for X-mas and wanted to make sure that my car was in good working order. While driving the vehicle it went into limp mode and the engine was making a knocking noise the vehicle stopped all together on the interstate 10 going West bound. Placed a call to Kia and arranged for a tow into the nearest Kia dealership for a loaner so we could continue our trip. This happened on December 28, 2018 and to this date I still do not have my car. In the beginning they were waiting for part numbers. The part numbers were issued on 3/19/19 but there is not an estimated delivery date.

Showing 137 miles to next service and I smelt oil burning so I had my husband check the oil and it had 0 yes 0 oil on the dipstick I had called the dealership earlier this week Tuesday the 26th to be exact and an appointment set for Tuesday April 2 as it was the earliest appointment time to get the oil changed however; after my husband checked and it showed zero oil in vehicle I took it to valvoline express care who noted oil level off dip stick on arrival and paid $66.48 to have the oil changed I had zero indications that there was no oil in this vehicle I think the only thing that kept it from locking the engine was I changed and flushed the oil and use synthetic oil to which the dealership frowned upon as it is newer car but I prefer to use synthetic oil in all my vehicles for this purpose!! I have no clue how long it was without oil and have never smelt oil burning until last night to which I took it get serviced first thing this morning and paid out of pocket when I have an agreement with the dealership that we paid extra for to have them service the vehicle at no cost when I go!!! we take care of our vehicles if I feel it is too long before Kia dealership can service the vehicle I have paid in past and always used the valvoline express care as that is where I take all my other vehicles. Please see the service comments on the attached invoice from today's service. My engine could have damage or even blown from this!!! there was no indication that it was leaking oil on the skid plate so either the dealership did not put any oil in the vehicle at my last oil change or there is something going on with my engine!!

On 3/24/2019, our 2017 Kia sorrento with 30K miles on completely shut down on the freeway. All lights went on and off, the car shook from side to side and the car shut down we lost steering and power brakes while we were going 70mph on the freeway. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the freeway. This happened 2 more times and then we had the car towed to a dealership for service. This could have easily caused a life threatening car accident and we no longer feel safe driving this Kia. Now the service dealer is not able to replicate this incident which has happened to others we are reading about so then the dealership says, "no issue." This car has been recalled for this exact issue (although not our VIN apparently). This is our first and last experience with the Kia - very disappointing. We bought the top of the line Kia because it was rated so highly for safety but now we are not even comfortable driving it. My children were in the car and lives could have been lost.

While driving my Kia Sorento around the engine rpms would rev up then drop off the transmission would not do anything. This happens while driving at 35 mph and while stopped at a traffic light. I took it to the dealer and they said they could not find the problem. Or a code for the problem. As soon as we left the dealer about 1 traffic light away the problem happened. I logged the time and date and went home.

I stepped on the accelerator to increase speed from 45 mph to 55 mph, but the car lost power & the "check engine light began flashing rapidly. I was nearly rear-ended, & went toward the curb, but did not want to wait for towing there (isolated: Rt.183 schuylkill ounty, pa) & felt some power engagement, so put on "emergency flashers" & called dealer who'd just had this car in < 3 wks previously, for the 3rd time for my objection that " this car w/ < 15 K miles on it hesitates when I step on the gas", starting 6 wks P new car purchase & Jan.26,2019 for a "product improvement" recall. I needed to drive 10 miles to my dr's appt & my car did lurch thru traffic light, but did not turn itself off. When the "codes" were read P flatbed towing to the dealer (savage Kia), I was told that Kia hdqtrs would decide B/C savage didn't recognize the codes. Sat. Am, 48 H P my car's self-destruction they called wanting to send my engine to Kia hdqtrs & place a rebuilt engine (of indeterminate milage prior to its retooling) in my car w/< 15 K mi. Of wear on it. I noticed the ongoing class action suit wrt Kia's design flaw in Sorento engines & see no value in driving that model engine that the boobs kept insisting was perfectly fine til the recall notice came, then whatever they did was ineffective & the engine's rubble less than 250 miles later. I've forbidden the dealership to take apart my car or alter the codes while I learn more from independent sources. I want a full, not a partial refund of all money, as Kia holds the lien on this defective, inadequately serviced item & they can study it, but not @ my expense...

Feb. 2nd 2019 my 2017 Kia Sorento stalled twice in the driveway. My husband took it for a drive and it made a loud noise upon acceleration. He suspected it was the engine and it was towed to the dealer Feb 3rd. Feb 5th the service department finally called and said the engine failed and we will need a replacement. He stated since my husband did the oil changes and did not have documentation it would not be covered under warranty. My husband always did our oil changes and never had this problem. An engine should not fail in less than 2 years and I realize this is happening to many Kia. We learned our lesson the hard way and will be paying out of pocket for repairs. My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks now. There is no engines available in the us and maybe they can get one from Korea but shipping takes a week once they find one and the work will take a week. So I'm paying for a car I can't drive for at least 4 weeks. So frustrating. I called the service department Feb 15th to check on the status of finding an engine for my Sorento, he stated he would check with the parts department and call me back asap. Still waiting.

The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the engine assembly failed. The vehicle was to be serviced by vandevere Kia (328 w market St, akron, oh 44303, 330-253-6137) for a product improvement campaign to update the ECU with a knock sensor detection alert. The alert would notify the vehicle owner when there may be a limp mode condition that could prevent the vehicle from exceeding 25 mph. The contact was concerned that the interim feature may only alert the driver and was not a permanent remedy. The manufacturer was notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was included in the product improvement campaign, but was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 17V586000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

I was driving my car going 50mph or 60mph and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car slowed down while I had my feet on the gas pedal all the way down to the floor causing me to have to pull over immediately when in traffic. I cut the car off and let it sit for a couple of mins and when I cut it back on it sounded like the car was idiled to high. I tried to driver again only for the car to jerk and seemed like it was driving itself only to slow down again to only 10mph with my feet all the way down on the gas pedal.

I was driving my 2017 Kia Sorento about 30mph early today going about 30mph when all of a sudden I heard a loud clunk from the rear end and the engine, all lighting, electrical, power steering and brakes just shut off. I was able to coast to a stop put the car in park. I then restarted it and it was fine. The dealer could find nothing wrong with it. This is very dangerous. What happens if I am going 70 mph and the car shuts down like this. Since the dealer could not duplicate the event there is no solution.

There has been two occasions in which the car turn off. Lucky it has been while the car was park. One of the occasion we had just pull over when suddenly the car turn off. I find that unusual since this is a new car and it should be happening. Has there been any other complaints about this model? I wouldn't want this to happen to me while driving.

I cranked my car, put it in drive, and started to pull out of my driveway when my car shook and stalled. All of my lights came on. I then tried to restart my car but it continued to crank over without starting. I gave it a minute and tried it again. The car started, I drove away, stopped at the stop sign, and the car stalled again. I cranked the car again, put it in reverse, it chugged backwards, and then stalled once I got back into my driveway. I let it sit for 5 minutes, cranked it again, then it was fine.
