Sorento 2.4l4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

2017 Sorento has an oil consumption problem. All oil changes have been performed by the dealer. Noticed that oil was low after a recent oil change and returned to the dealer. This started the so called Kia "protocol". The oil was topped off and we were told to bring the car back within a thousand (1000) miles. This was done a total of 3 times. On the third trip the dealer kept the car and stated that Kia would be taking care of the repair. As of 9/3/21 no word yet from the tech-line that the repair would be taken care of due to the car being under warranty when we started the protocol.

The service rep. & service manager have informed me that Kia would take care of the issue but to my knowledge this has not been approved yet. The dealer has provided a rental car, but based on conversation once approval is given it could take 2-4 weeks to get an engine. No time estimate has been given for the repair. Though we have authorization for the rental car for 30 days, I am worried they will not take care of this issue without costing me anything out of pocket.

Sorento GDI 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

I purchased this vehicle from Crowley Kia in Bristol, CT last year, 2017 Kia Sorento certified. I even bought an extended warranty. On numerous occasions, I have had to drive to the dealership and have them check the oil after 1,000 miles. The concern that I have, is that they are telling me I would have to pay approximately $7,000 dollars to get a new engine. However, my extended warranty should cover this, especially that I just purchased this vehicle. I believe that Kia and/or the dealer should have to bear the cost.
