Sorento Prestige LX 2.5L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,300 miles

Occurred driving park and go at yard sales in a neighborhood. I started car and attempted to back away from my position. Reverse would not engage. I put gear into Drive and car would not move forward. I attempted reverse again and it would not move. Put it into drive and it lurched forward after almost flooring it. It happened one more time during this day where car would not move when I tried to reverse.

This is the first time I have encountered this situation. I have had multiple situations involving the car going into limp mode while attempting to merge into traffic. The Dealership has been informed of this issue since car was at 24,000 miles. It has been in the repair shop at least 5 times regarding the limp mode. I will be trying to "duplicate" the event but car never gets an engine light when it occurs and resets after turning the car off and restarting.

The most recent visit the dealership drove my car 125 miles and could not duplicate limp mode or any other problem. They did another reset on the transmission and added some transmission fluid. They informed me that although there is a transmission recall they can not get Kia to authorize a transmission replacement without a "code" .

There is either a transmission problem or a computer problem with this Kia. Am I going to have to be involved in an accident before I can get something done? I also have a complaint in with Kia Customer care and waiting for their "follow up' My Kia case # is 16673214

I also have a complaint in with NHTSA CONSUMER REPORTING . But I have not received any response.

The Kia transmissions are proven to have a problem. There is a recall but I can not get the dealership to repair or replace the transmission.
