the hood came unlatch and flew up so i could not see anythih
The hood came unlatch while I was driving and the hood flew up, blocking me from seeing anything and shattered my windshield. This car has under 40 k miles and latch should not be defective like this. Only had car 3 weeks, never opened the hood and when I tried to hook it back down the latch would not hold the hood down. It was defective latch on soul that caused all this. I had to get new hinges, new latch, new hood and windshield and I am scared to even drive it now. Luckily the dealer took some responsibility for this and covered the cost of the repair.

hood randomly flew back against windshield
This 2012 Kia Soul that I have only had for 10 days, randomly had the hood fly up so I couldn't see anything and come back against the windshield and smash it. Luckily I wasn't on the highway at a higher rate of speed. It was scary, and I don't want to even drive it. I slammed on brakes and got over and the hood won't caught to hook. The latch isn't working to hook the hood down. I only had car 10 days

This has now occurred twice, the first time in 2016 on a secondary road with light traffic when hood flew up and hit windshield causing damage to glass and hood, we assumed something we did to cause this. On Friday 5/5/2017 we had been traveling for 3-4 hours and this time we were on the freeway ramp in Nashville Tennessee, 5pm rush hour traffic and were fortunate that we were already in the outside lane and able to pull into the emergency lane without causing an accident. This time the hood caused significant damage to the windshield and hood probably because of the greater speed we were traveling. We took car to the local KIA dealer when we returned home. They told us the hood latch is broken. Obviously, but this is not their concern, really, next time we will have to die to get their attention! I really feel this is a defect as their is reported defect on the Sedona for the same year cars. I want the word to get out so someone else does not get hurt!
