I have 2013 Kia Soul that the rear lights (when brake pedal pressed) is not working. I have taken my car to a dealer for other services and he told me that also the rear light bulbs are bad and they need to be replaced and he told me it would be around $40.00 to fix the problem. I told him if the light bulb is bad I could change it myself. So when I got home I checked the bulbs and they were OK and also checked all the fuses and all were OK.
Then I went online and find this web site. As what you said in your article about brake switches, I think I have the same problem. I think the dealer knows about the problem but they are not willing to fix it. How can I make sure that the switch is bad and have them fix it because I think this falls under warranty? Can you help? Thank you very much.

Was on my way to Atlanta from Lima, oh and was about rear ended... Nephew riding in separate car, when we went to get gas, said I didn't have Brake lights; except for the one in the rear window. I have had nothing but problems with this car. Having to jump it continually, having to replace headlights several times (three), replace back-up lights, tag lights... etc.
