2914 KIA soul with 2.0L engine. I was coming to a stop at an intersection and the car died. Tried to restart it, but it would not turn over. Tried jump starting it, but no luck. Had the car towed to my home and contacted my mechanic. He told me what to check, end result was to pull the oil pan and check the bearings. Sure enough #3 rod bearing had spun on the crank.
So far have spent over $1200 in parts. Kia knows these engines are a piece of s**t, but have not recalled them!!!!!!!!! They recalled the 1.6L, but not the 2.0L.
Also, I purchased the car used with 32k miles so I do NOT get the drivetrain warranty as they do not transfer their warranty to the next owner. WTF!!!!!!!
NHTSA needs to be all over this................

2014 Kia Soul was properly maintained, regular oil changes and oil levels maintained but rod broke and engine failed. Kia consumer affairs checked into the matter and acknowledged NHTSA registered hundreds of complaints of 2.0lL engine failure but they regret that currently they are not offering any recalls or assistance.
