2014 Kia Soul !, purchased in Nov 2017 used, was a lease turn in from my local dealer, with less than 60,000 miles. Car mainly used by my wife to drive kids to school, or herself to the store or work. All trips generally under 5 miles. This was my 5th Kia/Hyundai vehicle, the first to experience an issue of this sort.
In summer 2021, vehicle has around 96,000 miles on it when the exhaust starts to sound like there is a hole in the exhaust. Gets worse by fall to the point it sounds like a Stock Car when you accelerate. Shop indicated the Flex Pipe between the Manifold and Catalytic converter came apart. Basically, the front side of the flex material separated from front portion of pipe.
Had my local mechanic repair with a part I was able to order off Amazon for under $100. This wasn't a significant issue, just an annoyance, considering this is the 2nd unnecessary failure in a couple thousand miles (brake line issue was the other), and the 3 issue since 73000 miles when the Engine went bad.
While I generally like Kia and Hyundai cars, the lack of quality control exhibited with regard to this Soul is becoming annoying. I'm likely going to sell it in the coming weeks, as I see no reason to trust it will be trouble free for the next 50,000 miles. 1 of the 3 issues I experienced would be an oh well, all 3 is not worth it. I like to keep my cars until the wheels fall off, so having one with this many issues before 100k isn't what I'm looking for.
This is the 3rd of 3 complaints I have prior to reaching 100k miles with this vehicle.
