I own a 2022 Kia Soul that has repeatedly suffered damage from squirrels chewing through the wiring. The first incident occurred on 3/6/25, resulting in nearly $4,500 in repair costs. Although my insurance covered most of it, I still had to pay the deductible. The same issue occurred again on 5/6/25, and filing a second claim in such a short period could further increase my insurance rates or affect my coverage.
After the second incident, I learned from online forums and technicians that Kia uses soy-based insulation on its wiring, which attracts animals like squirrels. I discovered this is a widespread issue, with many complaints from Kia owners and even a class action lawsuit.
Does anyone has same issued? or what can I do?

I have been reading about other people having the same issue as me with rodents eating the wires of their vehicles. This happened to my 2022 kia soul. About 6 months ago the rodents chewed through my gas line and now the rodents have chewed though the system wiring which is making my car stop and restart. I also have crazy displays coming on the dash. I wish they would have a recall and fix the wiring on the vehicles because it's costing a fortune to get it fixed.
