Sportage LX 2.0L 4 cyl

Purchased a 2005 Kia Sportage (new) right from the showroom. Eight years later find out that the

vehicle is completely useless to me. The rear subframe is completely rotted out. And thats putting it mildly.

Took it to Kia to have them inspect it and possibly fix it. They couldn't believe the conditon of the subframe.

Yes, this is the only part under the vehicle that's rotted out. Everything else is solid without rust. Hmmm!!!

What does this tell you? I've taken pictures and showed several people and they say they can't believe how bad the subframe is for the year, that it looks like a 30 year old subframe. I was told by my mechanic and Kia that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. If I was to hit a bump that the frame would break in half and the back tires would fall off. The only thing holding it on right now is the trailing arms. WARNING to all 2nd generation (2004-2010) Kia Sportage owners CHECK OUT THE REAR SUBFRAME. There has to be someone who can follow up on this matter and hold Kia responsible for possible recalls to fix this problem before someone gets seriously hurt or possibly (the unthinkable) killed. BUYERS BEWARE CHECK OUT YOUR KIA VEHICLES. Ive owned two Kia's but I'll NEVER purchase another one again. Kia DOES NOT stand behind their products. And from what I've heard they use CHEAP materials to make their parts.
