Sportage LX 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 140,000 miles

The manual transmission on this car is very bucky, doesn’t matter how slowly the clutch is released; It just seems to slam when engaging. I had the transmission replaced for a different reason (lost gears 1, 3 and 5). I had a new clutch kit installed hoping to take care of the slamming issue as well. It was no better than the old transmission and clutch.

my wife and I made plans to travel to myrtle beach leaving in December . we were traveling in our motorhome and towing the kia sportage . my wife loved her car really loved it .several weeks before leaving I made arrangements with the u haul dealer for the tow. ok, this vehicle runs as a 2 wd front drive vehicle ,with 4 wd drive capability . they asked questions in regard to towing capacity of the motorhome along with our vehicle description (sportage). they said they would do all the hooking up .again we never ever used the 4wd capability which needed to push button on console to activate . the contract number at uhaul is (23394296).on the morning of dec 8th we arrived at u haul . the man at desk finalized our details and we paid . he hooked up a front tow dolly on the motorhome using our ball hitch and lite adapter after driving the vehicle on to the ramp the tires were locked in place with straps . now there are two employees here now and the 2nd man who appeared to be in charge finalized the hook up and told us to leave vehicle in park . we drove away to myrtle beach . upon arriving at the designated u haul dealer in myrtle beach the car was off loaded . my wife attempted to drive the car and it starting bucking violently after going 2 or 3 miles per hour ,it would not stop . at this point the car was towed to myrtle beach kia on route 501 . on Monday the dealer looked at vehicle and told us after carefully checking vehicle determined that a seal failed and leaked into the electronic casing. ok, let me tell you about our car .it had 88000 miles on it, it had been carefully maintained for its entire life .there were a few electronic failures that were taken care of at dealer .at about 60000 milest the dealer recommended to have the timing thing done which we did ,cost about 700 hundred dollars. it wasn't having any problem but that was their recommendation everything else we had done was basic maintenance. now at the myrtle beach kia dealer they contacted company to check to see if they would warranty this failed seal , estimated cost 4900. 00 dollars . they apparently checked locally and with the kia company and were told they weren't responseablie and would not pay for anything saying we were copable because we did not replace the seal. value of vehicle estimated at about 5000. dollars so what do we do ? we traded in at dealer for 2015 sorento . and got 100 dollars for trade value OMG. what is your thoughts . thank you for taking time to read this case . again my wife was thoroughly distrort and finished off 2 large bottles of wine . we are currently owning and driving the sorento .
