problem #1

Sportage LX 2.4L Gdi

Cruise control sometimes won't engage, and sometimes behaves weird, like it doesn't work for 10-15 minutes and then suddenly starts working, or pressing the decelerate (SET -) button actually causes it to disengage instead of decelerate, then pressing the accelerate (RES +) button causes it to re-engage, then pressing the accelerate (RES +) button again causes it to disengage again. Weird stuff. It is clear the cause of the problem is NOT the switches in the steering wheel, because it responds to the switches; it just responds incorrectly. The problem is also not the brake pedal switch, traction control, or other sensors that would cause it to disengage, because the cruise does correctly disengage when I touch the brake, and the cruise does sometimes engage.

Once it's engaged, it continues working as long as I leave it alone. Strangely, it remembers the set point even after parking and shutting off the car, hitting the cancel button, or turning off cruise control. (The owner's manual specifically says on pg 6-69, that using the cruise ON/OFF switch, or decelerating below 20mph will clear the set speed). I think maybe it needs a software update. Don't know how to fix it yet.
