Regardless if you've had Service Action 317A and Product Improvement PI1802 done on your 2011-2019 Sportage or not, the 2.4L engine can, at any time, go into "limp" mode which means its speed is limited to around 30 MPH. It happened to us twice at 22k miles and 39k miles (the first time happened around 12:30 AM while on the interstate taking a sick kid to Urgent Care and scared the you-know-what out of me). Kia was unwilling to help in any meaningful manner (even wrote an email to the President of Kia America), forced us to sell an SUV we otherwise really, really liked. If you live around, or never travel far from a Kia dealer then that would be a real advantaged in owning a 2011-2019 Kia with the 2.4L, but if you don't then you must always live with the very real possibility that you and your passengers could, at any time, be stranded somewhere for awhile. Yes, Kia now offers a Lifetime Warranty on the knock sensor and its associated engine parts, but it's 100% on their terms and 0% on yours. Best of luck to all you current owners.
