While driving on the highway, vehicle lost all electrical power. The engine stayed running, but I lost use of anything electrical including the power steering, headlights, and dashboard functions. Vehicle power resumed after about a minute and we made it home, but the vehicle would not start after this. After calling our KIA dealership they advised taking the vehicle in immediately via tow. After looking through the vehicle, it was found that a fuse inside of the battery harness had melted. This caused the battery cable to heat up to ~200 degrees. The cause is still unclear, but we worry about this happening in the future. We are still waiting for the cable to be replaced at this time.

Dead short in a wiring harness to the steering column where it goes up and down and back and forth to the positive wiring harness in there. that Kia dealer cannot figure out. Add another mechanic figure it out. Got pictures also a bad oil pressure switch that shot oil all over the motor

This happened twice in 10 days. Once while driving and once in parking mode with vehicle on - suddenly the vehicle loses power, cannot accelerate, power steering is lost, and 3 panel lights turn on simultaneously: Battery, oil, check engine. Both times by turning off and restarting engine I have been able to continue driving, power is restored and panel lights turn off. Have taken both times to Kia service southside/jacksonville fl and they have not been able to identify the cause, therefore unable to fix a potentially very dangerous and life-threatening situation if this continues to happen, especially while driving. Extremely concerned!

The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sportage. While driving 55 mph and making a right turn, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle traveled to the left instead. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (Kia of duluth, 1701 w Michigan St, duluth, mn 55806, (866) 722-4542), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to the local dealer and NHTSA. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The car slightly veered to the left, at first. I brought it up to the sales person during the drive. There was also a slight burning smell when I drove the car home in the evening from the dealer. I brought it back the next day to have it checked out, and the service manager said that he could not find anything. One of the sales' people stated that some new cars have smells in the beginning and to run the air through the car.

While driving, especially on the highway, the vehicle veers slightly to left or right and takes constant corrections to keep it driving straight. The steering requires constant over corrections and the steering also feels very loose. It feels like driving on ice. I brought it to the dealer and the alignment and other factors have been checked and they say there is nothing per say wrong with the car.

2017 Kia Sportage. Driver remote starts vehicle, unlocks vehicle and immediately shifts from park to any other gear, without pushing start/stop button, and within 10 seconds engine shuts off while in drive, neutral or reverse. Anti-theft programmed to shut off engine 10 seconds after unlocking doors unless the start/stop button has been pushed. There is no way that driver should be capable of shifting out of park until the after the start/stop button has been activated. Note: This is a correction for complaint # 10872312, reference 970797
