The contact owns a 2006 Land Rover LR3. While slowly backing up the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated very fast into a twelve inch cement wall. There were no injuries. The contact had to turn off the vehicle to stop it from accelerating further. She will take the vehicle to the dealer in a few days because she lives on an island. There was approximately $1,400 worth of damage. The failure mileage was 14,000.

2006 Land Rover model LR3 -leased. Vehicle has delayed acceleration from a stop or slow speed- vehicle hesitates. Vehicle is used on roadways in Florida. I brought the vehicle to the dealer three times and the problem persists. Delayed acceleration poses grave safety risks to occupants when attempting to accelerate for turn, start, etc. According to the dealers repair orders the following was done: 5-18-06 reflash transfer box control module, configuration of new ECU; reset adaption: 6-26-06- faulty engine management-system diagnosis includes configuration of new ECU;inspect delivery valve and rework compressor;remove spigot and check spigot and reinforcement plate nut, located and reinstall spigot; 7-3-06-engine management system diagnosis includes configuration of new ECU;drive cycle' as instructed by wds/T4 perform wds diagnostics. No stored fault codes. Check engine and transmission calibration files. Reset transmission adaptions perform addaptive drive cycle. The problem persists. I have rented a car due to safety issue. I am attempting resolve under the lemon law but want this issue addressed for public safety. According to the road reviews I have researched, the 2005 LR3 has acceleration issues. I could not find a review of the 2006 model yet.

This is the second brand new range rover LR3 (V6) that would not stop and instead accelerated rapidly through a stop sign across a highway. My previous complaint concerned the first car with the same problem. See complaint #10154482. This car had abut 200 miles on it. Like the first one we bought, it also could not be stopped when forcefully applying the brake. Instead it took off and later came to a stop. We lunged through an intersection across a highway and fortunately no other cars were coming. We had this car also towed to the dealer. Since the dealer could find nothing wrong with the last car that did the same thing, this time they were quicker with a refund. My wife and I still don't know what they did with the vehicles, nor what the actual problem was. The tow driver of the first car said it was a cruise control problem. Whatever the problem is, it is very serious and dangerous. What are the odds of this happening to two vehicles purchased only one month apart?

LR3 4WD 6-cyl

2006 range rover / LR3 - 15 miles on vehicle. Experienced rapid acceleration instead of braking three times the first time we drove the car after taking it home. Could not stop the car while pushing hard on the brake with both feet. Engine raced instead. It did slow down at first then lunged forward through a stop sign, then a stop light, onto a highway etc. Luckily no crashes. Auto dealer could not find anything wrong, neither could Land Rover. Ordered another new vehicle, same make and model and the same thing happened! drove it 2 hours and then it would not stop fully at a stop sign. It speeded up instead and raced across a highway. Returned that car also and won't buy another one. Dealer did refund our money and said it was a Land Rover problem. My wife and I were in the car together both times. Service dept. Suggested I was a fault by applying the gas and brake at the same time. Said the pedals are close together. This car should be recalled. I bought two of them and they both did the same thing. Someone is going to be seriously injured if they don't.
