2004 Land Rover freelander hse, engine problems at 50K miles- electrical problems, rear passenger window motor, very costly, bought the car in 2007 with 38K, hardly drive the car cause I travel for work and have rental cars, but when I do drive the freelander- it causes me money, something will break even if I drive it for 5 miles...Land Rover should compensate freelander owners because these cars shouldn't be sold to us when the car itself is unsafe and a lemon in the beginning...please- help!! incidental dates are too much to list!!

I had a 2006 Range rover super charge with engine/transmission problem and coolant problems. This problem existed from 5,000 miles all the way to 64,000. I kept complaining and bringing the car back to the first place it broke down which was in Georgia. I tried to take the truck to a service place in New Jersey but was told I had to bring the car back to the first place where it was so called repaired! which to me was too far! after bringing the car and complaining to Land Rover corporate no one would help me and the transmission went on the car and the radiator which I was forced to pay for both even though I was still under warranty and the problem was never fixed for the whole time I had the vehicle! this created a hardship for me and it cost me over $15,000 which I paid and when I returned the vehicle I am now being sued for over $12,000 dollars which sounds crazy to me and the service manager who I complained about was later fired for not honoring warranties and being disrespectful! please help me! after researching this site I see that this is a on going problem with Range rover!

Transmission failure in Land Rover LR3, no customer service and unwillingness to compensate for 18 days of time without the vehicle.

Many Land Rover freelanders are having serious problems due to the faulty construction of the engine. Prior to complete engine failure, there may be unexplained coolant loss, overheating, and other problems related to head gasket failure. Because the cylinder liners are steel and the block is alloy, the cylinder liners tend to work their way into the block. When this happens, there is no way to repair the vehicle short of engine replacement, and many of the replacement engines have the same construction defect as the original vehicle.

My car has endless problems in every aspect!! anyone that owns one are having the same issues and nobody can seem to fix it, nor can I get parts to fix it, and the parts you do get to repair the vehicle break faster than the original parts on the car !! my engine has not failed yet but my transmission has and the dealer ship wont fix it and said there is nothing wrong with it !! iv paid more money fixing the car than I have for the car !! I can't go more than 1000 miles before something else breaks !! I have owned the car for about 18 months and its been in the shop for about 12 of those 18 months !! everyone that has one of these landrover freelanders has the same issues and nobody can get parts for this car ! nothing works right and nothing runs like it should and even the mechanics at the dealer ship will take you aside and tell you get rid of it while you still can !!! I cant and neither can allot of others like me because of the money they have put into the car just to keep it on the road !! this car has left me and my 20 month old son stranded in the middle of nowhere on more than three or four or five occasions !! I lost track of how many times !! and when something goes wrong with this car your stuck wherever your at !! its not safe to walk down a freeway with a baby at any time during the day or night and that's exactly what iv had to do on many different occasions !! this is not a safe car by any means ! when my fuel pump went out my car just died at 60 miles an hour on the highway and nearly caused an accident with me and many other cars and I thank the good lord nothing happened when the car died and it felt like someone was slamming on the brakes !! this car is a safety hazard in the worst way !! kids should not be allowed too ride in this car do too the fact they might get hit by a car when it dies and leaves you on the freeway or anywhere else your at !! I don't let my son in this car unless its absolutely necessary !! I'll borrow my moms car just to go to the store with him !!

Check engine light, ticking engine, antifreeze, oil leak, smelling coolant inside car and numerous other issues such as window regulator, wiper motor and rattling noises underneath car has been my complaints since Feb 13,2008. Parts were replaced that didn't correct the problem of the ticking engine, coolant leaks, smell of coolant inside car, and check engine light which always comes on a couple of hours after the dealer returns my car to me. Car was towed from freeway due to breakdown on the way home 15 minutes after picking car up from madison dealership for engine repair. Dealership stated that this was due to an oil seal/oil plug and it was not their fault although they just finished working on the engine. I did not have my car for a total of 30 days not including the prior visits where they took almost 2 weeks to diagnose the problem. I was charged for a rental car during this period. Milwaukee dealership claimed they corrected the engine problem on 3 different visits which I paid $600 for a timing belt which never corrected the problem along with a $100 deductible for using the warranty. The parts replaced on the vehicle is as follows; manifold assy. Motor assy for wiper blades, window regulator, timing belt and differential front mounting which did not resolve rattling noise underneath car. Milwaukee dealership has also attempted to correct these same problems with no success. The coolant leak is still apparent and the check engine light is on again. The only thing the dealership can tell me is to monitor how many times I have to replace coolant. In the mean time, they have sent me home with a car that has a check engine light on and a disappearing coolant problem. I guess they will continue giving me the runaround until my warranty expires Aug 2,2008 just as many others has reported they did to them. Please help!!!!!

I am the owner of a 2005 Range rover. I purchased the vehicle used in 2006 with 60,000 mile's on it. In June 2007, the front differential broke while in the middle of two busy intersections. Traffic was halted until some men pushed my car to the side of the road. There was no warning leading up to this breakdown. In fact, the car was just at the dealership for the 75,000 mile checkup. Not to mention Range rover charged me $3,000 for this repair.. the most recent front differential breakdown was more serious since it occurred on the expressway in the middle of nowhere. While traveling to birmingham al. From atlanta ga. At a speed of 70 miles per/hr the car made a sudden grinding noise and stop accelerating. Once I realized wgat was going on I started getting to the side of the road. It was scary because part of the truck was still in the freeway lane and trucks and cars were avoiding hitting us. My teenage son had to push the car off the freeway. After this being the second time in peril I am now afraid to drive this vehicle that I owe a considerable amount of money on. This last incident occurred on March 07, 2008. The part was still under warranty since it had only been 9 months and less than 8,000 miles since the last front differential was replaced. Oh by the way, the car is still at the dealership in birmingham al. They didn't have the parts and the parts haven't arrived yet. I hope something can be done to help me, and others in my position.
