The rear door jamb SRS covers are made of a black vinyl material and painted to match the car's interior. The paint can be scrapped off by brushing anything against it like a grocery bag. I had the Lexus dealer touch up the scrapes on the drivers side. They charged me $50 which I had refunded because you could still see the scrapes. I contacted Lexus home office and they said nothing could be done and they had never heard of the problem before.
I posted the problem on the Lexus car owners club, and had several responses of people that had the same problem that I had. As far as I am concerned, it is a factory defect and it was cheaper to manufacture the panels all one color and paint them. I would expect this fix and finish on a Yugo, but not a Lexus.
