I purchased a 2008 Lexus ES350 in March 2016 and I started to get sick with reflux, stomach problems, throat tightening, tongue tightening going back at forth to the doctor. It took me a while to figure out that it was coming from my car. I couldn't believe that the air that I was breathing was toxic air. I always circulate the air inside the car but the problem was inside the car until I realized the problem and starting rolling down my windows when I was in the car. Unbearable.
I took my car back to Lexus of Austin and they said they didn't smell anything and suggested I change my filter to a charcoal filter so I did. I waited awhile, about 2 weeks and took my car back and told them my car was making me sick. They still said they didn't smell anything.
I asked to talk to the manager and this was two days before thanksgiving. I was brought into a room with 3 managers and I told them my problem and they told me if the car is making you sick don't drive it and to call Lexus customer service to file a complaint at 1-800-255-3987. I asked to get a rental car and was declined. I rented a car because I was going home for the holiday and could not drive a car that was making me sick. I self payed for a rental car for three weeks.
I started to do some research on my own and I google my car is making me sick and a lot of information popped up on Lexus and even class action lawsuits for the HVAC.
