problem #2

Aug 012019

GX460 4.6L Ltr V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,250 miles

While braking. with medium pressure from a speed of 40 MPH approaching a stop light, the brakes suddenly went to 90% with the vehicle nose diving, the tires screeching and I was thrown into the seat belt. I did not change my brake pressure or push the brake pedal further down to cause this. I did not receive any warning lights, chimes, etc - yes it does have front anti-collision sensors. There were no vehicles in front of me that would cause it to sense an imminent crash. After this occurred, the brakes were very sensitive compared with before the incident, which had a nice 'slide then grab' feel, now they want to grab very quickly with less pressure on the pedal.

This is the second time that this has happened...the first time I took it in to Lexus for analysis and of course - every thing checks out to be in specs, although they did confirm that the pedal definitely grabs higher than other GX460's. I did not take it in this time to the dealer as I expect the same finding. I will add another post for the prior incident.

While braking. with medium pressure from a speed of 40 MPH while descending a slight hill to control my speed, the brakes suddenly went to 90% with the vehicle nose diving, the tires screeching and I was thrown into the seat belt. I did not change my brake pressure or push the brake pedal further down to cause this. I did not receive any warning lights, chimes, etc - yes it does have front anti-collision sensors. I took the vehicle in to Lexus for analysis and of course - every thing checks out to be in specs, although they did confirm that the pedal definitely grabs higher than other GX460's. The brake sensitivity did return to normal after a couple of weeks.
