Dash becomes sticky, tacky, and otherwise gross. Totally unacceptable in any vehicle much less a Lexus.

the rubber part of the dash has turned sticky and tacky. i have searched the internet in found that there others that have the same problem and Lexus has done nothing about it ..when i call our local dealer they claim they have never heard of such.
Update from Mar 23, 2012: UPDATE....took advice from Matt L........I currently have an 05 IS300. Prior to this car I owned an 02 Honda Accord. When I had the Accord the center console had the same problem with the "melting". I was able to remove it with Denatured Alcohol. You can buy this at a marine store (like West Marine). It worked great on the Accord and have since used it on my IS. While using it, get a lot of rags, and it will look like your dash is coming off, but it pulls the crud off. I live in FL and have had no ill effects from doing this. Hope it helps.........It worked but i would suggest being very careful because the stuff will take the shine off of the vinyl ......use q-tips in tight places.....
thank you matt for the help

Every time I touch the dash I get a new smear or mark. Sticky black substance gets on anything that touches it. Car has been in the Northeast/Midwest and only has 86000 miles on it at this point. Lexus won't add it to the list of cars (vin #'s) eligible for their extended warranty program for the same issue.
