Takata recall. I bought my car only two years ago after my first Lexus lasted me upwards of 350,000 miles. Keeping this in mind I found my 2007 IS250. I was aware after buying the car (but 2 days outside of my dealership warranty *fishy*) about the passenger air bag recall. The dashboard situation Is harsh. There Is a very chemical smell coming from my dashboard, it feels and peels off like the foam under it. It gets ripped and torn to shreds from very little friction. I have read that some people became very congested and ill from this smell. It Is very pungent. Now for my engine, this Is a big one. As I was driving, my car starts to make a loud but hallow clunking noise. For a long time I thought it was my brakes, so when I got them changed it went away, for a little. Now today as I was driving my car (which Is an automatic) completely stalled in head on traffic. Lucky me, ive driven many manual cars so I knew what to do. When I turned my car back on, it held idle at 4000 RPM. While going 20 mph it holds at 5-6000 RPM. As well as my miles per gallon/tank drop dramatically. While the car Is in idle in my driveway, it shakes like a freezing baby throwing a temper tantrum.

I work for Toyota/Lexus manu plant in ky. My vehicle started throwing a misfire code (P0304) and check engine light came on. My car was diagnosed by Lexus dealer as having carbon build up in engine (temporary repair will cost $600 to clean engine. Permanent repair that will eventually have to happen $15,000). Lexus did offer a csp on this issue and extended warranty on this issue but you could not go to the dealer and have it diagnosed until the check engine light came. The check engine light did not come on until it was out of warranty. After many phone calls and continuous complaining Lexus would not stand behind their product. I finally had to file a complaint thru the warranty dept at the manu plant. Lexus finally called me back and said they would pay the $600 to clean the engine, she did tell me that the only reason they were even talking to me was because I work at the plant. I had the engine cleaned Oct 2017. The dealer told me that this carbon build up will return and I will eventually need an engine replacement.

Today while driving my Is 350 on the interstate, it lost compression quickly and black smoke appeared from beneath the car. It continued to slow and stop running. It would not start again my 2007 Is 350 has about 85,000 miles. I called aaa and it was put on a flatbed tow and dropped off at a Lexus dealership. I'm waiting to hear what the cause is and the cost. Have others reported this issue?

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Is 350. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle vibrated significantly. The contact managed to pull the vehicle over before it stalled. Also, the check engine, battery, and vsc warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (Lexus of pleasanton, 4345 rosewood dr, pleasanton, ca, 94588) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve springs failed and a piece of the valve spring fractured. The valve spring fell into the cylinder head and damaged the short block where the pistons were connected, along with an oil leak to the spark plugs. The valve spring and short block needed to be replaced and the cylinders resurfaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 10V309000 (engine) for the engine valve springs in July of 2017 by the dealer (Lexus of concord, 2001 market St, concord, ca,94520); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 1709051152, which was an extension from a different case number. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

There are 2 recalls that I have been told by servco Lexus oahu have to be done at a dealership. The problem is I live on the big island of Hawaii and there is not a dealership on this island so I was told I have to pay for the shipping of my vehicle to the the dealership on the other islands, either maui, or oahu. I have argued with them saying it is there responcibility to fix the car and I shouldn't have to pay anything for them fix their mess. I was told by an assistant manager at servco Lexus oahu, that if I read my owners manual I would have known this.do you know of anyone who has read their owners manual front to back before they bought a car, new or used, what if someone buys a used car and there is not a manual in the car?he also told me that all automanufacturers state that in there mauals so I read my Chevy truck and my corvette manual and it says "Chevrolet will repair all factory recalls within 30 days and if they cannot they will find a repair shop to do the work and worse case scenario they will send parts to the customer." I read the manual from Lexus but couldn't find anything saying I am responsible for shipping costs for them to fix their mess, it might be in there but I couldn't find it. Anyways these recall are from 2010 and haven't been fixed, there is a recall on the interior door panels and dashboard I have been waiting on for 15 months, I was told that it should take 8-12 mo., still waiting, I can't even sell the car without taking at least a$2000 loss, if L would have known it was going to take this long and that I was going to get such a hassle and disrespect from the company of Lexus I would of never bought this from my friend in the first place.this is not how the american automanufacturers do business, I will never buy a Japanese car ever again. If they can't conduct business like the big boys do then they shouldn't do any business.

I had issues when the car starts-up. It make a loud noise every morning going to work and also the A/C makes noises when its on. Took it to Lexus and they told me that they can not duplicate the noise and also say that they found some type of garage in the air filter. The noise Is still there, its a loud thump as if metal to metal impact. Like a steel hammer hitting another steel hammer.
